It's a new Oz for a new generation when an ordinary girl-next-door is thrown into extraordinary circumstances that will see her overthrow tyrants, restore hope to a nation and become a legend for the ages.


Stepping into the shoes of ordinary girl, Dot in Valley Wind's comtemporary update to
L. Frank Baum's classic "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" is Ottawa actress Alison Hunt, currently on summer break before her third year in the Theatre and Drama studies program jointly run by the University of Toronto and Sheridan College.


Alison will be joined by Chris Shackleton, John Eric Ladd, and Liam Murphy who take on the rolls of Dot's companions: Fright, a genetically engineered hyper-human, Circuit, a cyborg with the soul of a man, and Savage, a hybrid of human and lion DNA.


The movie will see Dot tested in battle against diverse enemies from Oz lore like the Winged Monkeys, the Wheelers, and the Winkies. Taking up the mantle of the friends and foes Dot will encounter on the way are: Michelle Leblanc and Colleen Sutton respectively playing wicked and good witches Wester and Locasta, plus Mayssam Zaaroura as Mombi, the last sorceress of Oz, and Ian Quick (Untamed Lands' Crow) as Wizard, the prefect of Emerald City.


Rounding out the cast are:

  • Ellen Manchee and Brian Tannenbaum as Dot's Aunt Em and Uncle Henry.

  • Simon Seline and Celeste Haslette as the father-daughter munchkin duo Boq and Portia.

  • Tyler Krusch and Matthew Champ as the freedom-fighter Tip and his right hand, Logan.

  • Ashleigh Freedman as Sandy, leader of the Winged Monkeys, sexy mercenaries employed in the service of Wester.

  • Eduardo Sousa as the Puppetmaster in control of the indestructible Wheelers.

  • Leslie Cserepy as the vile hybrid, Spyder.

  • and Andre Givogue as the leader of the Winkies, super-soldiers in Wester's army.

  • with Hayley Doelman as Ozma, the exiled crown-princess of Oz.


As well as Veronique Cantin, Anna Lisa Ferrari, Lisa Gibson, Kyla Gray, Aaron Hay, Ragi Ibrahim, Chantal Mathieu, Fiona Noakes, Travis Ranta, Anik Rompre, and Danielle Savoie as some of the members in the various gangs and groups.


Some of the team behind Legend of Oz include writer-director Allan Mackey, costume designer Ashleigh Freedman, art director Louise Mackey and fight coordinator Lionel Gibson of Orleans Taekwondo. Allan Mackey also serves as producer on the project alongside associate producers, Eduardo Sousa and Annie-Claude Lapierre.
