AUDITIONS WRAPPED FOR 2010

Auditions for this year have come and gone and we'd like to thank everybody who made it out. We saw 75 people, not counting a couple of video submissions, and overall were impressed with what we saw. We look forward to working with many of them as the year moves forward and, as always, are only sorry that we won't be able to work with everybody as much as we might like.

But big things are coming, starting with Windrush, which is where most of our effort will fall over the next couple of weeks. Hope to see you there.

WE'RE CELEBRATING!

Valley Wind Productions is proud to present a celebration of performing arts in Ottawa. Coming March 27, WINDRUSH will be a day of activities and three unique performance events throughout the day. It's an opportunity for creative professionals in Ottawa to reconnect with friends you haven't seen since the last production you worked on together, perform for your peers, network, and just have a great time supporting and celebrating the local scene.

UPDATE: All the details on the Windrush page have been updated. Go now: WINDRUSH 2010.

GENERAL AUDITIONS 2010!

A new year is upon us and that means a new opportunity for actors to join us in upcoming productions. This year, Valley Wind Productions expects to produce at least three short movies as well as co-produce up to another dozen and delve into theatre this fall. Our larger-scale production, PANDEMIC, is set to test the boundaries of story-telling in a changing industry - and is guaranteed to provide a challenge to the actors involved.

Auditions will be held the last two weekends of January (23, 24, 30, 31) and we have diverse casting needs so everybody is encouraged to come out. Go to the Auditions / Acting page for full details and send us off an email right away so you don't miss out! See you there.

Valley Wind Productions and Orleans Taekwondo to host Fight Training workshop for Actor this March!

Actors are occasionally put in the position of performing physical activities in their roles. Most commonly, they have to fall down, but they could also have to dive to the ground, punch, kick, or "receive" punches and kicks. For some scenes, like fights, you'll also be expected to learn and remember a series of moves that encompass all of the above. And when you do, it's important to do so convincingly. More importantly, it's important to be able to do so safely and minimize the risk of injury to yourself and others.

Our workshop is a similar routine to what we put our own actors through, refined after our experience in Untamed Lands and Legend of Oz, covered in such a way as to make it a valuable skill for you to take forward in your professional career. Go to our Actor Services page for the full details.

Can you Survive the House?

Valley Wind just completed and launched our semi-secret project: Survive the House. StH has been a pretty special production and is a little different than what you might expect. That's because it's an interactive movie. One where, rather than just watch, you make the decisions.

Explore the house. Meet the Petrovs. Make the right choices and you'll find one of the three ways to Survive the House. Make the wrong ones you'll find one of the twenty-six ways... well, your hosts aren't terribly nice to strangers. A lot of outcomes to find, a lot of paths to follow.

The challenge is out @ http://survivethehouse.com.

We recently launched a Facebook group for Ottawa area actors. The group's purpose is to inform interested actors of auditions and casting opportunities from Valley Wind Productions, its partners, and its friends, as well as other Ottawa-based productions. Be it stage or movie auditions, industrials, commercials, or background work. We also encourage actors to use it to meet and connect with each other.

Ottawa's Fringe Festival kicks off this week, which means that until June 28, you'll all have plenty of opportunities to see boundary breaking theatre. Two of our own Legend of Oz cast are performing in plays this year that we'd be remiss not to recommend. You can catch Michelle Leblanc (Wester) in Satanic Panic (or the Death of Al Pacino) and Colleen Sutton (Locasta) in Oreo in a number of different showtimes.
